Apartment in the Seorae Square Building, Seoul | South Korea
Seorae Village, known as the "Little France" of Korea, lives from the international nature of its residents. What started with a French school has changed dramatically recently and is now considered one of the most upmarket districts in Seoul, and has attracted much attention due to its famous residents.
At the heart of Seorae Village there is also the nine-storey "Seorae Square Building", a mixed-use building that has medical facilities on the ground floor and large private apartments on the upper floors. The renovation undertaken by the well-respected interior designers Kulturwerte follows their concept of a "cultural revolution", in which the clients are guided through new ideas and approaches for all the design elements of a space. As a result, the light brick walls decorating the outside of the Seorae Square Building are also found inside. Large-format natural stone slabs form the background inside and provide a modern and friendly atmosphere. Dark wooden elements are used for entrance doors, walls and stairs in order to lend the space more authority. The multi-level interior spaces in the living areas are connected together with open stairs and air spaces with sophisticated glass balustrades. In the public areas such as the lounge, white furniture creates an open atmosphere in combination with light marble. The use of marble leads to elegant patterns inserted into tables and wall panels and creates a decorative effect. In contrast, in the private areas such as bathrooms and offices, a colour palette is used consisting of robust and refined, dark materials for lighting and wall coverings to underline a modern but still calm atmosphere. In the kitchen area there are dark wooden shelves and kitchen furniture alongside white marble flooring and wall coverings, and in this way they create a harmonious balance. In order to meet the artistic preferences of the owner, various abstract artworks decorate the bedrooms and office and give the rooms a special touch.
On all three floors of the apartment, the classic LS 990 design in the colour dark aluminium is installed - partially conventional, partially as KNX push-buttons. The optics and feel of the selected materials supports the desired modernity and elegance of the interior design and forms the desired counterpoint to the wood and marble surfaces. The installed KNX system creates an intelligent home. With Smart Visu Servers, push-button sensors from the F 40 range, room controllers and presence detectors, various functions such as lighting/dimmer controls, HVAC systems and underfloor heating controls can be operated manually or automatically. Furthermore, the installed JUNG internal intercom system enables smooth communication and access for visitors.
