Raffles Sentosa
With the Raffles Sentosa Resort, the first all-villa resort in Singapore has been created, which is embedded into the tropical landscape of the island of Sentosa. 62 detached pool villas are distributed along a wooded hillside with a view of the South China Sea. Every villa is arranged in such a way that they enable withdrawal, peace and flowing transitions between the interior and exterior areas.
The design for which the international design studio Yabu Pushelberg is responsible follows an organic ground plan, which leads the guests from reception via the common areas to the private villas. In the process, you dive deeper into the green surroundings with every step. The architecture combines clear design with natural materials. Travertine, light woods and handcrafted details characterise the appearance. The colour palette has been selected to be restrained: beige, sand, stone grey and light brown tones dominate. In combination with specially made furniture and artworks from local artists, a calm, almost private atmosphere emerges. Large areas of glass open the rooms to the garden. Each building is planned as an independent unit with its own pool and terrace. The transitions between interior and exterior areas are flowing. Textile elements, light reflections and the view of the surrounding green create an atmosphere that dedicates itself consistently to the themes of retreat and winding down.
Attention was also paid to calm and high-quality integration for the technical equipment. The LS 990 switch range in the stainless steel and aluminium dark lacquered variants have been used. Its clear geometries and surfaces insert themselves inconspicuously into the design concept. The system is complemented with KNX F-40 push-buttons, which can be used to control light moods, shading and climate functions centrally, and whose operation is intuitive and reduced to the essentials.
