15 Leonard Street in Historic Tribeca
The name Tribeca was coined by city planners in the 1960s to designate the TRIANGLE BELOW CANAL STREET. Originally farmland, Tribeca was commercialized in the 1850s. Now, coveted residential lofts and restaurants have moved into the old warehouse and factories. The inimitable historic district stands shoulder to shoulder with ever emerging, innovative, new architectural feats, to create an unrepeatable neighborhood of dynamic local life.
We thought of this project as a microcosm of the neighborhood. Within this 9 story structure, we incorporated multiple types of urban residences: a townhouse, a triplex penthouse and gracious full-floor residences with towering 10-foot ceilings. We blended contemporary design into the historic fabric of the neighborhood. Gracious interior layouts maximize area efficiency for light-filled, family-friendly homes. Multi-level outdoor spaces lend the luxury of privacy while still integrating residents into their community surroundings. Meticulously selected finishes deliver high quality without overwhelming design sensibilities.
Tribeca Today
Tribeca remains both venerable and modern. Today, the area continues to draw its energy from its incomparable location between Manhattan’s financial centers on Wall Street and the abundant art and cultural scenes of Greenwich Village and SoHo. Host to the renowned Tribeca Film Festival, a world-class array of restaurants and fashion’s most celebrated names, the present-day Tribeca has evolved into one of Manhattan’s most exclusive addresses. Yet the area retains its soul. In a city rich with dichotomies, Tribeca is a seamless blend of intimacy and novelty.
