ROOTS – Osterwold°Schmidt Exp!ander Architekten emerged in 2001 as a partnership of Antje Osterwold and Matthias Schmidt of P.A.L.O.M.A. Architects, founded in 1997 after studies in Weimar, Paris and Lisbon. INFLUENCES – a holiday home on Long Island, a church by Alvaro Siza, a house by Souto de Moura, a residential building in Japan, a silo in Ontario and a hint of "complementary culture" from music, literature etc. exp!and into an own brand. APPROACH – Good architecture has nothing to do with budget or fashion. There is always a special task with a special solution. AMBITIONS – Merging the place, the personality of the building owner / philosophy of the company and the concrete idea of the draft in the architectural response, without copying one's previous work.
