This strongly horizontal architectural design is paired with a strikingly vertical interior experience in the double-height living and TV areas. The concept is fully inspired by the wooded surroundings where the house is situated. A dramatic corner window on the upper floor of the living room and fully glazed bedroom walls ensure continuous visual contact with the trees. This connection creates a constantly changing experience throughout the year—from the intricate shadows of branches cast by the winter sun to the swaying canopy during a summer storm.

Expansive walls reinforce the horizontal character of the design. Beyond their aesthetic role, these planes also serve functional purposes: guiding visitors to the front door and preventing overheating. The elongated layout allows for spacious living zones, with the living and TV areas, as well as the kitchen and dining areas, each occupying their own distinct zones while benefiting fully from the generous space. The kitchen and dining areas form the heart of the ground floor. Glazed walls at both the front and rear façades maximize the connection with the outdoors. A large covered terrace provides a gentle transition between inside and out.

The surroundings are also reflected in the extensive use of wood for the interior finishes. Like the trees outside, the wood rises vertically within the space. Natural stone adds a complementary texture, creating a harmonious mix of materials that echoes the landscape.

Niets is wat het lijkt. Dit sterk horizontale architectuurontwerp gaat hand in hand met een sterke verticale interieurbeleving in de dubbelhoge zitruimte en tv-ruimte. Die opvatting is volledig geïnspireerd op de beboste omgeving waar de woning zijn thuis vindt. Een imposant hoekraam op de verdieping van de zitruimte en de volledig beglaasde slaapkamerwanden op de verdiepingen verzekeren visueel contact met de bomen. Ze creëren het hele jaar door een wisselende beleving: van de grillige takkenschaduwen wanneer de winterzon door de bomen schijnt tot het schuddende bladerdek tijdens een zomerstorm.

Uitdeinende muren versterken het horizontale karakter van het ontwerp. Naast hun esthetisch rol hebben deze vlakken ook een functionele rol: ze begeleiden bezoekers naar de voordeur en vermijden oververhitting. De langgerekte woning biedt ook de opportuniteit tot ruimtelijke leefruimtes. Zitruimte en tv-ruimte, leefkeuken en eetruimte, elk in hun eigen zone profiteren hier maximaal van. De leefkeuken en eetruimte vormen het hart van de gelijkvloerse verdieping. De beglaasde wanden in de voor- en achtergevel gaan voor het grootst mogelijke contact met de omgeving. Een royaal overdekt terras vormt een zachte overgang tussen binnen en buiten.

De omgeving vertaalt zich ook in het veelvuldige houtgebruik voor de interieurinrichting. Net als de bomen buiten schiet het hout in de ruimte omhoog. Natuursteen zorgt voor een mooie mix van natuurlijke materialen.
