Hotel Heppie

Patrijslaan, Mierlo, Netherlands

Hotel Heppie is a group accommodation for children on a wood site with a small lake close to Geldrop in the Netherlands. A vacation spot for children, who, for whatever reason, could not be carefree child or for those on no other way a holiday would be possible. Hotel Heppie consists of a cosy group accommodation and a cheerful play building. Creating a positive, safe and stimulating living and play climate, where children feel at home immediately , were the base of the design concept. In both buildings are various functions, such as e.g. sleep, play and eat or cook grouped together in separate, readable, free-standing volumes. Between these different building elements large glass windows enable e visual relationship with nature environment and support the orientation within the building. A wavy movement of the pergola and terrace bind together the different volumes per building and determine the characteristic appearance of the ensemble. Both the design in general  as the materialization and colour scheme embed the ensemble in nature context.

By a specially developed color palette for the interiors of both buildings, a cheerful, warm and inviting atmosphere is created. The individually for Hotel Heppie designed furniture completes regardless of the high functionality in a subtle way the child-suitable atmosphere.
