The cooperating offices SSP AG and soll sasse architekten presented the design for the refurbishment of the Stadthalle Göttingen.

The façade is a particular highlight. The 50 x 50 cm façade tiles with the five colors and the combined motifs "circle" and "triangle" are secured from the existing building and supplemented by tiles with two colors with the motif "square". The new composition creates a differentiated appearance with a surface effect from a distance and a heterogeneous play of colors up close. The existing building, which was previously popularly known by the nicknames "tiled stove" or "swimming pool", is thus given an interesting new interpretation.

At the same time, the chosen concept sensitively preserves the reference to the history of the building's origins, for example by reusing the still intact structural elements. It is an elegant step into the future that confidently reinforces and emphasizes the effect of the Stadthalle cube.

Inside, the foyer and the multi-purpose hall are being transformed into "all-rounders" and will provide the ideal setting for a wide variety of events in future. Energy efficiency, improved room acoustics, increased comfort and the creation of a bright and friendly atmosphere with a contemporary interior design complete the picture.

The refurbishment concept is a good example of the consistent further development of an event property with the aim of achieving the aspects of attractiveness, efficiency, future viability and competitiveness.
