With the second construction phase at Kentener Wiesen, the vocational college in Bergheim will be consolidated into a single location. A complementary new building is being constructed on the site of the first construction phase, which was completed in 2019, and will house the training courses currently still located on Kettelerstraße. The result will be a shared campus for students, bringing together the existing and new buildings as »one school.«

The four-story building is based on the architectural language, scale, and materials of the existing building and continues its design approach. Recesses, facade grids, and the light-colored clinker brick facade create a uniform appearance, while a glass joint between the buildings provides views and access.

Users enter the new building via the central foyer on the ground floor, which, together with the open auditorium and adjoining dining area, forms the communicative center of the school. The administration offices, including the teachers' room and the secretariat, are connected to the auditorium and are therefore easily accessible to everyone.

Inside, open and flexible room configurations create versatile learning and meeting places that are tailored to the individual needs of the users. The arrangement of the rooms promotes orientation within the building and supports modern educational concepts.
